I would never doubt that Duddie has more street smarts than many of the other bankers in the region. It appears he has more street smarts than many in a variety of business'. Helps explain why he's been ahead of the prosecution curve.

Many of those that have filed against him will have a hard time getting to prove their story. He is an opportunist that operates with an MO. There are a couple of them that will have their day. It is a long process to get there.

He's smart enough to settle at the last possible moment with a gag order to keep it out of the paper. He pays good money for his advice.

We all know Duddie is a sick man. Can't even walk into his own bank (not for long) without being snickered at. What a JOKE!!!!! all the things that are said are so true they cut him close to his heart. When all be told he will go down with the great criminals of our time. If the public thinks he has not committed other bank fraud in his past, WOW there is a big surprise in the works. I was a smart one and move on to a nice bank out in the suburbs. Dear ri yes this is personal. He may not have a jet, but he has the best of everything else. Poor Mr. Mastratoro with his expensive shoes and clothes.
They are all connected Mr. Massad, the city Tow Truck Company, police, state police, the banks.
Goes way back for what Mr. Mastroatoro did to my father. I sat with this man who talked about my father who worked for him. Didn't have good things to say. My father was a good man, never hurt anyone, worked in this business to pay for my sick mother.
My father has been gone for years now and whenever I tell people who I am, they tell me your father was the best man ever. Four sucesseful children, we are proud of what the good people of this city remember him as.
One other thing that man never even sent a Mass Card to my dead mother.
If this is a movie, they can contact me. I'll tell the story.

I love how people whom have nothing to do with a situation have so much to say. Sling your mud elsewhere. Of couse if it's ever in print it must be true, right? Mr. Mastrototaro obviously got screwed. Why do you think he went to the papers? Some people want to point out his alleged ties to the mob and try to discredit him. I wonder if they said he was a retired accountant or plumber would they believe it then. The fact is he got screwed on a deal. Whether it was on paper or on a hand shake, a deal is a deal. Your word is you honor. I got to say that I think this whole thing is more about the principal of honor not the money. And I think once his wife got cheated, that was it.

Besides Mr. Mastrototaro, I got to say that I don't feel bad for the people who are saying that they got screwed on loans from Duddie and Mallegni. These people knew what they were getting into when they signed on the dotted line. That's why the call them hard money loans. They are short term and ridicoulsly high interest loans. They know the terms of the loan. They know the consequences if they can't repay the loan. And they still sign. Then when they can't pay it back they say they got screwed. You weren't getting screwed when you cashed the check. The bottom line is they signed the deal and agreed to the terms. Like I said earlier, a deal is a deal.

You keep refering to St Nick and St John, I don't know who they are or care to. I do know Mrs. MacDonlad and she is a lovely lady who these crooks took advantage of and stole her money. please explain why you do not speak to what they did to her.You just simply go back to the other people suing them (when they are not even mentioned in this article) saying they are trying to rob your friends.
I reread the article and I am sorry MB but what I get from it is that Mr. Foley does say they had a long friendship and if it is over it could be from the deal with the crooks wife.

The only thing interesting or new about this article is the fact that when you retire from the 'business' you are all of a sudden eligible to have the laws of the court system there to back you up... too old to fight it out in the fields anymore time to take a nap and go to court.... I am literally laughing out loud right now... these people are like 200 years old and if you have ever seen duddie in person than you would find it even more comical... he is 4 feet tall and looks like the fricken' crypt keeper

I take it that you are an insider and I have to take what your saying with alot of suspision, you seem intent on not looking at the facts that were in the paper. In Mrs. MacDonalds case what they did was criminally wrong and yes she should have not only filed a civil suit ( which they quickly settled )she should have filed charges against them for fraud and who knows what else. I have to give Mr Foley's comments alot of weight, he said that for decades thier survaliance showed that Mr. Massad and this Mob guy met often and were close friends and that Mr. Massad had lied in his deposition that he hardly knew him. I also find it hard to believe that Mr Depitri hired this Mob man as a mortgage broker.Mr. Depitri said that he never knew him and the settlement statement did not have a name next to the $30,000 fee nameing the recipiant of that money and that the closing took place at Commerce Bank according to Mr. Mellegni's statement. I guess we will have to agree to disagree and know this I make up my own mind and not the T@G

MB, how do you know that what this crook is saying is false.The depositions and the copy of the settlement sheet shows something happened and I am personal friends with Mrs. McDonald and I know what they did to her and that was morally and criminally wrong. I also grew up in the Worcester area and for many years heard all the stories about Mr. Massad and not knowing him I did not know if they were true or not, but this story begins to explain some of them.I had months ago stopped doing buisness with Commerse Bank after Mrs. McDonalds dealings with them and this only reconfirms that I made the right decision to not Bank were they do buisness with scum like these people.

Every article about these dispicable criminals mentions 'at least another dozen state and federal lawsuits
against them(Duddie/Marcello)' When are we going to hear more about them? I know at least one of the victims and she is certainly NOT a questionable or debateable character. She happens to be a wonderful retired person who got fleeced of her entire life savings for her family's retirement..almost $1Million! Who INVESTED with these crooks just like Carlo in this story. I also heard they threatened other retired women so bad they had to settle out of court with them. How is it possible this keeps going on and that anyone still banks at Commerce?How do they sleep at night?

Duddie's been a pea in the same pod with all these guys for decades. No one ever needed a signed anything with Carlo,the man's word was his bond...unlike Duddie.Great reporting by the T&G, Carlo's never spoken to a reporter in the 60 years they've tried to talk to him.He could care less about a lousy $15K, it's always about respect. You know, it truly is amazing. Since I was a kid all I've heard about Duddie Massad was what a sleazebag he was. As I got older I knew enough not to buy a car from his dealerships. People know his repuatation, yet they still do business with him. I especially like when one dirtbag gets screwed by another and then they start crying about it. I guess what goes around comes around.

It truly sickens me to see Duddie referred to as a philanthropist and to see his name on a building at UMASS and on the renovated Foley Stadium. This truly isn't anything new with this guy, it's just the same thing over and over with a bunch of new victims.

He was in tune with JAKE THE SNAKE of RI fame and JAKE used to meet William Hunter Hood in the NE Steak Place with CASH. Thier MAIN HIT boy was James Lyons of Smithfield, RI fame (sometimes Uxbridge, MA) and involved with the GRANDY's of Prov. fame.

It's great to see that the T&G isn't going down without a fight. Great investigative story, but now it's time for the FBI and local police to move on the real 'Teflon Don', Duddie. It's amazing how just about everyone Duddie associates w was in jail or should be, yet he continues to skate w a bad case of amnesia when it comes to who his friends are. How much longer will Duddie's money buy his way out of a stint in the slammer?
